I am sad to say that I missed this wonderful little event last Friday. PARK(ing) Day started in San Francisco, and the idea is to build a little park in a designated parking space, while feeding the meter of course. This demonstrates how much more open space we might have if not for all the cars everywhere! Of course in San Francisco, even the Mayor was into it, allowing his personal parking space to be filled.
Inhabitat documents many clever spaces.
I particularly like this video of a pedal-powered park:
People are so clever. I wish I were more activist and less blogivist. Cheers to those who participated!
